When you are sorrowful look
again in your heart, and you shall see
that in truth you are weeping
for that which has been your delight.

Dugan is the
very special Connor/Iza puppy owned by Lucy Newton of Vermont.
Lucy is a K9
Officer and is using Dugan as her SAR/Cadaver dog,
hence the
name...Esmonds Sixth Sense (I
smell dead people!)

Dugan
found a missing 22 year old woman!!!
Lucy's Report:
"She
had been missing since Thursday morning, she was hypothermic and, due
to her mental status, not likely to have done anything to get herself
out of the woods or to avoid succumbing to hypothermia. Dugan worked
well, he is still young and inexperienced, but clearly knew why he
was out there and what he was looking for. He sure took a big
giant step in convincing me to trust him today!! I was more
than thrilled to discover that the only thing in a huge area filled
with a lot of distractions (especially deer and geese) that captured
his attention was the scent of a missing person."
While we are
all aware of how much our dogs enrich
our lives, we never dreamed that one of our dogs could affect the
life of another so greatly. We thank Lucy for giving Dugan the
opportunity to reach his full potential as a true working dog. |
Dugan recently earned his

Dugan attended
SAR school in California.
Lucy reports
that he was excellent on his first flight and performed very well
once he arrived!
While there,
Dugan had many new experiences...like the person in the Hazmat suit!
Of course, he
took it all in stride!
Dugan is also
following in Bevan's footsteps with the Water Rescue Training.
Here's the view
that Lucy has while he's working.

extensive "training"???
As a puppy,
Dugan accompanied Lucy to work and learned
all the
important "Police Dog Stuff" (like getting tummy rubs).
And Hugs!
Dugan also
spends a lot of time "training" with
Calix, who thinks that Dugan was his own personal Christmas gift!
