Reno all grown up!
Reno began as
our little "Squirt" (wearing turquoise, above).
We believe that
he and his brother "Peanut" were twins...
they were born
very close together, although out of their sacs,
so we'll never
be sure. Peanut was just 6 oz, and Squirt 9 oz at birth.
Unfortunately,
Peanut did not survive, but Squirt (though he was very tiny)
was also very
strong. Of course, he quickly became our favorite!
Squirt always
had a smile on his face and was an angel of a puppy.
He was polite
and pleasant and it was impossible not to love him.
And because of
his size, we'd find Squirt everywhere. He rode around
in the kids'
sweatshirt pockets, and routinely made it into bed with us...
When the time
came for Squirt
to go home, I could hardly bear it.
Thankfully, his
co-breeders, Don & Pearl Thompson, also found
Squirt to be
pretty special, and were committed to finding him the perfect home.
Well, the
perfect home did come along in the form of
Mike and Gwen
Holtman. Mike and Gwen were the owners of
Squirt's
grandsire V-1 Am/Can Ch Oakview's Falco and although it was
clear that
Squirt wasn't going to be the showdog that his granddad was,
they Holtmans
chose to open their hearts and their home to him.
Squirt is now
"Reno" and we couldn't have dreamed of a better life for him.
And as you can
see, he grew up to be a handsome boy!
Reno and his
best friend, Jake.
