Hello and welcome to the feeding section of our website.  As most people are aware, we feed our own dogs a completely raw diet.    Mike and I have been feeding our dogs some version of a raw diet for quite some time...Mike since 1996 and I started in 1998.   This diet, more commonly called the BARF diet, stands for Biologically Appropriate Raw Foods or, as at left, Bones and Raw Food.   Both Mike and I started on the program made famous by Dr. Ian Billinghurst, D.V.M. and "tweaked" the diet to suit our own dogs over the years.

We like this diet for a variety of reasons... First, and most simply, the dogs really like to eat it and we feel good feeding them human grade foods from sources that we can verify.   Second, feeding raw allows us to build specific diets around each of our dogs individual needs.  Lastly, we have been extremely pleased with the results of our litters that have been raised on raw feeding.

As you research this diet, you will find many claims made by both sides, most of which do not have scientific studies to back them up.  You'll also find that passions run high on both sides of the issue.  We're not here to tell you what you should or should not do, only what works for us.  Frankly, it is just too early to tell whether it's really making a difference in the dogs overall health and longevity.   We started out by breeding healthy dogs, so there will be no stories here of miraculous recoveries or life altering change.  We can say with confidence though, that our dogs are doing wonderfully on this diet.

We will not push you to feed the BARF diet, nor do we require it of our puppy owners, but we do ask that if you are hoping to adopt one of our pups, you give us the courtesy of learning all you can about canine nutrition and make your decisions accordingly.

Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions you may have.
